THE GOTTMAN RELATIONSHIP CHECK UP

An assessment of where your relationship is at and a blueprint of how to make it better

What is the Gottman Relationship Checkup?

The Gottman Relationship Checkup is an online assessment that automatically scores a couple’s strengths and challenges.

This clinical tool used by Gottman trained therapists consists of 337 questions about friendship, intimacy, how well you know your partner, how you manage emotions and conflict, how you share your values and goals, and what gives meaning to your lives. There are additional questions about parenting, housework, finances, trust, and individual areas of concern. The questionnaire is completely confidential, fully HIPAA compliant, and your therapist will be the only person to see both your responses.

The Gottman Relationship Checkup is a breakthrough in couple’s therapy as it allows for a confidential and efficient way for me to complete the evaluation process. By using this new technology, your assessment can be done at any time and in the setting of your choice! Upon completion, it automatically provides valuable clinical information by pinpointing specific strengths and challenges in your relationship, while also suggesting actionable, research-based recommendations for therapy.

How does The Gottman Relationship Check Up fit into couple’s therapy?

The GRC assesses the strengths and challenges of your relationship in a very efficient way. It also gives you a roadmap of what the work building and strengthening your marriage will look like. Before the assessment went online, it took us working together many hours of assessment to understand exactly what the issues were and how to move forward. In other words, the GRC cuts down on many hours in the office during the assessment process, allowing us to get straight to work on building and strengthening your marriage.

What areas does the GRC address and how long does it take?

The Gottman Relationship Checkup is comprised of five sections:

Friendship and Intimacy

Relationship satisfaction, emotional connection, romance, and admiration

The Safety Scales

Trust, chaos, commitment, and emotional philosophies

The Conflict Scales

Stress, relationship harshness, and conflict management

The Shared Meaning System

Shared rituals, values, and goals

Individual Areas of Concern

Individual issues, safety, sex, depression, drug and alcohol use, violence, anxiety, and other issues that may need psychological or psychiatric help

The questionnaire can take approximately two hours to complete. You can take a break any time by logging out and back in, returning to where you left off. When both you and your partner have completed the questionnaire, I will receive the results through a confidential online platform.

We will then review it together [in what is called a feedback session] with the both of you and provide actionable recommendations for therapy.

Can we use the results of the GRC to work on our marriage by ourselves?

I understand committing to couple therapy can be a daunting process. While the GRC is designed to be a tool in the therapeutic process, you are not committing to ongoing therapy by completing the GRC and feedback session.

Should you choose not to continue working with me, I will highlight areas for you to work on and suggest resources to guide you through the process.

Get started in these three simple steps:

How it works:

Use the form below to purchase the GRC and feedback session.

The regular price of the GRC plus the feedback session is $400. For couples who purchase and complete the GRC before the end of June, there is a discounted price of $250.

Send me BOTH your names and separate individual email addresses

I will then send each of you a separate email inviting you to The Gottman Relationship Checkup.

 Create a private profile

Once you have accepted the email invitation to join The Gottman Relationship Checkup, you and your partner will each create individual, separate profiles

Complete the questionnaire

You and your partner will each complete your own questionnaire at your convenience. Stop and start at any time. Neither partner will be able to access the other’s information at any point in the process. In order to preserve the integrity and accuracy of the tool, you are encouraged not to share your responses with each other or log in to your partner’s account. The actual time it takes to complete each assessment varies, but it will take, on average, about two hours.

Get your results

When you have both completed your individual questionnaires, I will be notified and will be able to securely log in to review your scores and the analysis of your relationship. I will then send you a link to book an appointment with me. We will then meet to discuss the results with you and suggest a treatment plan for improving and strengthening your relationship.
